Frequently Asked Questions about the Early Learning Curriculum Kit:

What does a typical day/lesson with JG math look like?
The kit is all teaching instruction to the parents both in the text and on DVD.  It is a program by which you teach your child to do math.  It is not a "magical" software by which you park your child in front of the computer, come back in a few days and "voila" they are multiplying.

Can the program be used as "stand alone" or is the corresponding online course necessary for it's most effective use?

The online courses are not required for the program to be successful.  We do recommend that you self organize, we will help you do so, and work the program as a co-op.  We find the additional support and availability of expertise helps significantly.

That being said, the Early Learning online course is actually one of our most popular courses. In the class, Dr. Jones explains how your child's brain is developing and why certain teaching methods work better than others, while giving guidance on the best approaches to teaching your kids their basic skills. At the beginning of every class, each parent spends a few minutes telling the others about their week and the progress they are making with their child - what has worked, what hasn't, etc. Dr. Jones then gives individualized pointers on how to engage your child so that the time you spend learning is not only productive, but fun. It's a very interesting class.

Does the kit include teaching instructions and/or lesson plans?
Lesson plans vary according to the age and skill level of each child.  We proceed in terms of steps rather than units.

Can I get samples?
We do not mail out free samples. You can, however, get a very good idea of the materials in the kit by attending an online demonstration by Dr. Jones. He will show you digital versions of the text and worksheets, as well as other study materials from the kit. Talk to Chris about when these are held: 817-718-8822.

Are the kits and classes available outside the USA?

Yes. To order from outside the USA you should call Chris at 817-718-8822 or email him at chris@jonesgeniuses.com to get a price quote for shipping. Online classes are available anywhere in the world where you can access the internet.

How long after ordering can we expect to receive our items in the mail?
We usually ship out curriculum kits within 24 hours of receiving your order. If you are in the USA you should receive the product within a week. Outside the USA could take longer depending on the type of shipping you choose.

How long does it typically take to complete the Early Math program?

It depends upon the age, skill level of the child, and the consistency with which the parent applies the program.  Someone who does it 4 times daily will go more than twice as fast as some doing it twice a day. Once a day will work as long as you are regular.  Dropping the ball is the worst thing you can do.  A first grade age child can go through the Early Learning Math Curriculum within weeks, a child who is 2 years old may take a year or more.  They would be prepared to go on to Math Three, our first grade level program.  There are some children who struggle to make the move from Early Learning to Math Three.  We are developing a Math Two course for them but in most cases they make the transition just fine.  A lot depends upon their age etc.

If a young child started the program early and completed it by age 4 for example, would they be able to move on to the next kit (Facts Master) which is supposed to be for a 6-12 year old? Is that kit adaptable or would there be a break in learning until they were old enough to handle the age 6-12 kit?

They would absolutely be able to move on as soon as they completed the Early Learning kit. Our programs are all designed so that kids move through them at their own pace. The 6-12 age group is only a guide - younger (or older) kids often complete that level. Each kit builds on the preceding kit so that there are no gaps in knowledge from one to the next. Because of this, kids who begin our program at a very early age (4 or younger) often are doing algebra by the time they are 8 years old because they keep moving through the programs. That is what accelerated learning is all about - going as fast as you are willing and able to go!
